Having observed Samsung’s brand communication for its Galaxy brand of smartphones in India for several years and as a user of Samsung Galaxy mobile as well as tablet for many years now, I have always thought that Samsung could do more with a brand like Galaxy.

In exploring how consumer durables brands can build a competitive advantage and differentiate themselves, I have attempted to create a new brand strategy for Samsung Galaxy – a range of products that begins with smartphones but goes much beyond it. Here’s hoping that Samsung Galaxy will truly reach for the stars with its pathbreaking chips and display screen technology and build a differentiated consumer electronics brand for itself.
