Making British Airways Fly Higher

Over a decade ago, I put down my thoughts and ideas for British Airways at my aged parents’ place in Goa and lost them to termites, unfortunately. In light of new developments in the airline industry as well as the Covid pandemic, I have revisited my thoughts and ideas and recreated them from memory.

The idea is to give British Airways – which has expanded into a larger airline group – a new and fresh impetus for growth in the current global economic environment. And help the airline fly higher, cleaner and better, as well as take off from where it left our imagination with the smile advert of the early 1990s. You can read my new brand strategy for BA, which is in continuity with the old positioning of the world’s favourite airline, by clicking the link below. The document also contains my brand communication ideas across TV and print as well as other communication disciplines besides advertising.

While the ideas for the TV adverts are in the document above, I have created layouts for the British Airways print campaign, which you can see by clicking the link below. I must clarify that I am not a designer or art director, and have created these using the help of the Canva App.

In addition to the main brand campaign in print, airlines usually also have to communicate flight schedules, new routes and destinations, promotion offers, etc. In keeping with the main brand strategy and ideas for British Airways, I have created a couple of adverts as examples of tactical advertising, which you may view below.

The main strategy and ideas document for British Airways also has my thoughts on the airline’s frequent flier programme, direct marketing and PR as well as use of the digital medium.

Here’s hoping BA will take the world to new horizons!

The print campaign layouts for British Airways use stock images from Pixabay and Unsplash, and design elements from Canva. The British Airways logo is from Wikipedia as Brands of the World logo options could not be converted into png vectors online this time around. I am thankful to all of them.
